D.J. Kirkland is a comic book artist, writer from Charlotte, NC, and has called the San Francisco Bay Area home for well over a decade. His art blends the energy of 90s anime with the charm of Saturday morning cartoons, celebrating plus-size men of diverse shapes, sizes, and colors. He is the co-creator and artist of the graphic novel The Black Mage (2019) and has since contributed to popular comic book series such as Aggretsuko, Dream Daddy, and Teen Titans Go!—along with DC Pride 2024, the critically acclaimed Young Men In Love anthology, and its follow-up, Young Men In Love: New Romance.
