costuming, sci-fi convention!
Momocon is proud to present the third annual Momocon AMV Premiere/Exhibition. An event geared towards giving AMV editors old and new a chance to premiere brand new, never-before-seen Anime Music Videos in a competition free environment. As an extra challenge editors are encouraged to create an AMV that corresponds to the theme at Momocon that year. This year the theme is dinosaurs! Please see below for the specific rules
Early Bird AMV
Start the con off right with some stellar AMVs!
Believe you're finally ready to make a AMV? You've been to Animemusicvideos.org, you've read the guides. You have your laptop, editing software, song, and your footage prepped. And when you opened your editing application.... you just stared at the screen. Don't worry, it's happened to us all. That's where the members of CBR (Chaotic Bad Raptor) want to help you. Come sign up for a 1 hr of 1:1 help from an actual AMV editor. You will need all things mentioned below.
*1 laptop fully capable of editing with your preferred editing software already installed.
*The show you want to work with in a format that is ready to be edited (please test this)
*The song you want to work with.
*An open mind and let us help.
This will be a sign up event. When you sign up, you are assuring that you will be there with everything above. If something happens, and you are unable to attend after you've already signed up, please contact the coordinators as soon as possible. Lastly, please include the name of your operating system and editing software in your sign up e-mail. This is needed to help us know which instructor to pair you with.
To sign up, please send a email to addictionmv4000@gmail.com with all the required info and the subject line "AMV 201".
We will be holding our 3rd Annual AMV Exhibition with the purpose of showcasing brand new AMVs to Momocon's 11,000+ attendees and streaming them LIVE via http://www.ustream.tv/channel/amvs-momocon on Saturday March 17th from 3-5pm. The general rules and guidelines are as follows:
Rules and Guidelines
1) The exhibition is not a contest, and there will be no awards or prizes given out at MomoCon. Its purpose is to give AMV editors old and new a chance to showcase their latest Anime Music Videos in a competition free environment, and have them streamed LIVE via http://www.ustream.tv/channel/amvs-momocon. As an extra challenge, editors are encouraged to create an AMV that corresponds to the theme at Momocon that year. (This is completely optional though). This year, the theme will be dinosaurs.
2) The deadline for MomoCon's AMV exhibition is Sunday, March 4th, 2012.
3) All videos submitted must meet the following requirements:
*Must be at least 50% Japanese animation, Japanese video game cutscenes or anime-inspired stills
*Must be under 10 minutes in length
*Must be of reasonable video and audio quality
*Must not contain excessive violence or content that would place it above a PG13 rating.
*Must not contain water marks that are not inserted by the editor (no cartoon network or adult swim logos!)
4) At any time we reserve the right to not show a submitted AMV for any reason.
File Formats?
Momocon is able to accept AMVs in a wide variety of file types. Unlike many conventions, our video rooms have projectors connected to computers instead of DVD players. And because of this, we are able to play most video formats and even HD videos. So if you were looking for an event to send your HD AMVs, this is just the place. But even so, please do not upscale your videos. If your footage wasn't taken from a blu-ray or was already HD, up-scaling it to 720 or 1080p will negatively affect your video quality. The preferred file types are MP4, AVI and MPEG-2, but we also accept WMV, MKV and many more. We strongly discourage submitting QuickTime, Real Media and Flash Video though.
How to Submit?
This year, the preferred submission method is to complete the form on the following link: Submissions (http://kireblue.wufoo.com/forms/amv-submission-form/)
The form requires you to provide a download link of your video via a file uploading service like MegaUpload. If your AMV is available for download on http://www.animemusicvideos.org, you also have the option of instead providing a link to the video information page.
*A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you within 2-3 days.
If you would like to submit your AMV using a different method, please contact the coordinators via the org, or at kireblueV2@gmail.com
